Material testing
RENK has an extensively equipped materials testing laboratory at its Augsburg location. Material samples known as production control test specimens, which undergo the entire heat treatment process, are examined and documented here. The measuring of case hardening and nitriding depths, as well as hardness tests according to Brinell, Rockwell, and Vickers – in other words, all conventional hardness testing methods – are part of the everyday working routine. Metallographic probes are used to interpret, characterize, and assess heat treatment structures and edge areas with respect to their composition, surface oxidation, and retained austenite.
Our laboratory is also able to carry out spectral analyses, tensile tests, and notched bar impact tests.
Ultrasonic and crack testing are performed by our specialist laboratory staff directly in production.
Whether you're selecting materials, designing workpieces, or assessing damage – our experts are here to provide you advice and support.
