RENK multifunctional test facility – comprehensive and precise
One of Europe’s largest and most modern test bay facilities for gear units, drive systems, and external system testing is located at RENK Group’s main location in Augsburg. The building measures 40 by 60 meters in length and has a height of 20 meters. The extensive test installations, which are set up to be used for a variety of purposes, aren't just designed for the tests that are performed on the special-purpose gear units and drive systems manufactured by RENK. Other manufacturers of drive systems and drive system components have always had access to the facility for testing purposes as well.
Features
The test system is designed to meet the specific manufacturer requirements for complete drive systems as well as drive components such as brakes, gear units, or drive shafts. The multifunctional test facility is especially suitable for testing prototypes or one-off custom fabrications. The system saves manufacturers from setting up extensive test structures for one-time tests – and therefore saves time, effort, and money as well.
Technical data
RENK’s multifunctional test bay offers its customers top value: The system allows for a power consumption of 12 megawatts at ten revolutions per minute and a torque of 11 million Nm during tensioned operation. Test pieces can be controlled under load with the help of transfer gearboxes up to a maximum torque of 500,000 Nm and top speeds of up to 20,000 rpm.
